Alexa’s Update # 20

by Alexa on July 26, 2009 · 6 comments

As most of you know, I’ve been away from my California home for almost a month now.  I had to have surgery on my eye (explained HERE), so I went to Philadelphia.  My parents live near there and my mom’s a doctor.  She preferred that I get my surgery done by someone she was comfortable [...]

Towards a New Proposition K

by Alexa on November 18, 2008 · 7 comments

Many of you recall that Proposition K, which would’ve basically decriminalized prostitution here in San Francisco, failed.  This, despite some media stories suggesting that it had the support of about 73% of the city’s voters.  I still have no idea where CNN came up with that figure.  Perhaps it is(was) a reflection of those who [...]

Proposition K, which would, for all intents and purposes, decriminalize prostitution in San Francisco, enjoys the support of 73% of the city’s voters, according to CNN.  This would be way cool in a great many ways if the polling is accurate and it actually passes.

Alexa’s Update # 12

by Alexa on October 8, 2008 · 13 comments

Hey, folks.
Please forgive the relative dearth of posts lately.  There’s this little thing called school that is kicking my ass.  I can see now why they want you taking half the course load you do in undergrad in graduate school.  *So* much reading, writing, and project work.  Wow.  Fortunately, the subject matter is near and [...]

A Few Days in Fort Lauderdale

by Alexa on September 6, 2008 · 12 comments

I finally returned to San Francisco Tuesday after a few luxurious days with Nikki in Fort Lauderdale.
And based on the projected path of Hurricane Ike, it looks like I timed the trip just perfectly – between Gustav and Ike.
And while Hurricane Gustav’s direct threat to southern Florida abated early on, it [...]

Alexa’s Update # 10

by Alexa on August 27, 2008 · 4 comments

I know I’m a couple of days late on this, but there really hasn’t been much to update you on.  I’ve seen a few clients, but nothing has really stood out as something y’all might be interested in.  I am still seeing Rick many mornings around 6AM, and he’s still forking out the cash for [...]

Alexa’s Update # 3

by Alexa on July 7, 2008 · 11 comments

I’m changing the name of my occasional updates from “Random Notes” to “Alexa’s Update” just so it makes more sense and so you guys don’t forget who’s writing them!
So I had my first San Francisco date Saturday.  It went well.  I have another lined up for tonight (a “quickie” – 2-hour sort of [...]

More updates on life in San Francisco.
I went to the Dyke March Saturday night. There were, literally, tens of thousands of women there. Wow! All races, all shapes, all sizes, all cultures, all nationalities, all…queer, or supporting of queers. I strongly dislike the word dyke, but I unabashedly support the intent [...]

Random notes from San Francisco:
One thing I won’t miss about Florida is the threat from hurricanes. However, the move to SF just presents a new set of risks. To wit, earthquakes, and wildfires. Now that I think about it, I think I prefer the occasional hurricane.
My sleep schedule is fucked up, what with us being [...]
